Brewery Scene Looking Up in East Valley

Was out with Marlen on other errands this morning and she spotted the brewery sign on the side of the big blue building and told me, "turn around!" We did and then I followed my nose. They were brewing. We didn't try to get a tour, but probably could have talked our way in if we had wanted. But the taproom is open as well, two buildings to the south. So what is it? Golden Road Brewing in Glendale is open now. We went into the taproom for a quick pint. Today they had four of their own beers up on tap. I had the Point the Way IPA and Marlen had the Schwartz Stout(served on a nitro tap too). Good beers both. I think the IPA uses Cascade for the signature hops. The Schwartz Stout was pretty roasty and definitely reminded of coffee. The taproom includes a kitchen with a pretty good menu too. We spoke with the barmaids and learned that this is the newest opus from Tony of Darts Away fame. They've been brewing since October and the taproom has been open only a few weeks. They've got three large warehouse buildings right alongside San Fernando Rd, just south of the 134. One houses the brewery and what will soon include a canning line. The next building will be for barrel aging and the last one is the taproom and kitchen. Tony isn't fooling around here! The buildings are blue, red and yellow. Hard to miss. They plan their grand opening celebration just after the new year. They'll also have guest taps, including ERB. All in all, very exciting for this beer desert.
