Fresh Cider

Well cullens last grand hydro inspired me, took a trip with the wife up to tehachapi and picked up some fresh pressed cider at RB family orchard, great little family run place, the whole trip happened between 9am and 2pm, including having a picnic while out there (yay no traffic on sat. mornings!)  Anyways if anyone else was inspired as well I would make the trip quick, from the sound of things the season is going to be VERY short this year!

Their cider right now is primarily red and golden delicious with two other table varieties i hadnt heard of before mixed in, very good flavor for so. cal. cider.  Hopefully a few more people can make the trip and we can actually have a decent competition at next years mayfaire, i for one am looking forward to it.

Tehachapi ois really nice-I prefer it to Oak Glen.  The town is growing, though.  It used to be a small little place for prison guards and apple orchards.  now it has a few wineries, a healthy trade in retired-folk and kiddie mommy daddy tourism and, oddly, alpacas.  But there is a nice little park with an old fashioned bandstand, a small micro brew movement (VERY small) lotsa apples and apple products, some good orchards, and a great health food cafe.

Good for you for going, Skipp!  Cullen and I were there on the same day, believe it or not.
