Wanting to lower the gravity more, or should I bother?

Just moved my second batch to the secondary fermenter, and was a little disappointed to see the gravity only dropped to .03 (I'd assumed it come down to .02 like my first beer) from .08.  This is an extract version of dogfish heads 90 min ipa clone using Thames Valley as the yeast--which is at least advertised to handle up to 10 or 11%.

I tasted the embryonic beer when I took my readings and it was good, though with just a touch of sweetness.  Should I even be worrying about this, or is this something that time in the secondary (or carbonating) will take care of?  Or hell, just settle with a good tasting beer that's not quite as alcoholic as I had planned?

If I'm reading you right - you had this extract beer that started at 1.080 and its only dropped to 1.030?

In that case, yeah, you definitely haven't dropped far enough. Did you make a yeast starter? If this were an all grain beer I'd expect 1.080 to drop down to around 1.016 or so.

Yeah, it's an extract batch.  Made a yeast starter but it was really slow taking off.  I'm wondering if I just should have left it in the fermenter for longer.  Either way, it's in the secondary fermenter now and can sit there as long as needed.
