Plainweiser Pub Ale

The simplest recipe you could ever make. This Blonde Pub ale is a great place to start your brewing career. Think American macro beers with a little bit of ale character. Can be brewed in under 3 hours! (Originally published in the Everything Homebrewing Book)

Malt/Grain/Sugar/Extract: 

5.0 lbs Light Liquid Malt Extract (Pilsner preferred)

Hops: 

0.25 ounce Hallertauer Tradition Pellets 6.0% AA for 60 minutes
0.25 ounce Czech Saaz Pellets 3.5% AA for 5 minutes

Yeast: 

Wyeast 1007 German Ale

Special Instructions / Notes: 

Mix 2 lbs of the extract with 2 gallons of boiling water (off the heat).
Boil for 60 minutes adding the hops as indicated.
Add the remaining 3 lbs of extract with 10 minutes remaining in the boil (again off the heat)
Transfer to the fermenter.
Top up with enough cold water to reach 5 gallons.
Ferment between 65-69F for 1 week before bottling or kegging.
