Fermentation Automation

Some folks on the Yahoo list asked that I post some comments about my experience with creating a temperature controlled environment for fermenting a brew.

I have heard some great suggestions like put it in a closet and turn a little space heater up a little each day, and rotate a frozen milk bottle into the water bath each day for cooling, and these all sound good and not too time consuming, but I am more lazy than that.

I want to set a temperature profile, put my carboy in the tub, and come back in a week or two and keg it.

And so begins my journey...

I was asked to include photos, and pictures really do help tell a story.

I tried to upload some pics to the MF website, but I get some errors.  And I notice there are few if any photos posted by members.

So I am guessing that something broke a while back, or maybe my browser is funky..  And fixing it may be more than trivial.  Been there.  Done that.

A quick search reveals that a few of the club members are Google+ users, but nobody has created a Google+ Community for the Falcons.

I took the liberty of creating a Maltose Falcons Google+ Community, not to divert or compete with the existing Yahoo and MF website, but to offer another portal with which members can share ideas and info.

Anyone can view this community by visiting http://plus.google.com and search for Maltose Falcons.  Or just click on this link:

https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/101431009392326407412

Members must be approved by a moderator, and as fast as members sign up, I will make every official member a moderator, so that nobody gets excluded.

For me, posting to Google Plus is just too easy.  Snap a picture with my Android Phone and it uploads automatically.  Add some comments, and done.  If you are an Android user, then I would suggest joining Google+.  If you are a plus user already, then please join the community.

I will be posting photos and comments about my projects which include this Fermentation Automation Project, which I have renamed "The Ferminator" to this community.  I tried to use the MF website and it didn't work for me.

Ownership of this Community belongs to the Club.  I make no claims, nor do I wish to exert any control.  I will however, help with the maintenance and promotion to the extent that I can.

I probably should have gotten board approval first...

Thanks!
