Brew Session at Ladyface Alehouse for a 40th Anniversary Beer!

The heads of the fantastic Ladyface Ale Companie - Alehouse & Brassserie, Cyrena Nouzille and Dave Griffiths, have invited the Maltose Falcons for an incredible brew session to make a 40th anniversary beer at Ladyface. Dave and Cyrena have generously offered to host 6 people each on two brew days, Thursday Sept. 4 and Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, to brew a Double IPA based on the famous Double Down recipe that was brewed by Kent Fletcher, Jim Kopitzke, Cullen Davis, Drew Beechum, Jim Moorman, and MB Raines, and given  as an official commemorative beer to attendees of the 2004 AHA Conference. 

Dave and Cyrena are longtime friends and supporters of the club, and both were homebrewers before starting Ladyface in 2009. Dave is a Falcon, and was previously head brewer at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, which held Falcons brew sessions back in the day. Ladyface has been on RateBeer.com's list of the Top 20 Brewpubs in the World, and in 2012, was named "Best Brewery in L.A." by LA Weekly. Its award-winning, mostly Belgian beers, excellent French and Belgian food, and gorgeous restaurant have made it a beloved one local LA craft beer institution, so this is a huge honor and generous gift to the Falcons, for which the club is eternally grateful. 

Thursday, Sept. 4, 9 am - 5 pm. At Ladyface Alehouse. 29281 Agoura Rd., Agoura Hills. (101 Fwy at Kanan Rd. exit)

Participants will take home 5 gallons of wort, at no cost to the club or participants, to ferment at home, and the beer will also be served at the Falcons 40th Anniversary Banquet on Oct. 11. Like all club brews, this is open to fully paid members only - but there is no restriction for those who have done a brew session in the last 3 months, so it's first come, first served, but you must stay until the end of the brew day. It is rare and generous that participants on a brew day with a commercial brewer get to take home wort, so DO NOT sign up unless you can take home a share of wort. 

Please arrive on time, with your bucket or carboy, ready to work, wearing close-toed shoes, and be on your BEST BEHAVIOR. Dave and Cyrena want this to be a hands-on and educational brew session (hence the small number of slots). Absolutely no homebrew is allowed on the property. No drinking is allowed inside the brewhouse, but fear not, there will be plenty of delicious Ladyface beer at lunch and after the brew day is done. Bring cash or credit card for lunch and beer.
