Did you ever want to be a beer judge? Would you like to learn more about your favorite liquid hobby? Here's your chance.
Dana Cordes and I will be teaching a BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) online entrance exam prep. class. The three hour class will be held at the Home Wine and Beer Shop in Woodland Hills from 7PM to 10PM on Wednesday, Sept. 6. We'll be briefly talking about beer styles and covering what what can expect to find when taking the beer judge entrance exam. You'll learn about judging procedures, different levels of judges, brewing techniques and procedures and lots more. We'll be comparing and contrasting some beer styles and of course we'll be serving classic examples of a number of beers.
The class is open to anyone, but it is limited to 20 students since that's all the clubhouse will hold. Unfortunately, all 12 seats the BJCP has allocated for our November 18 exam are taken. But for those so inclined, you can often find seats in other exams. And only about 8 of the people sitting for the exam will be at the Entrance Exam class, so we can handle another dozen.
It has been 4 years since our last set of classes. It may be a while before we do this again. Don't let this pass you by if you have any interest in judging at all. The cost for the class is $10. And that really is only just for the cost of the beer. If you are interested in taking this class, please email me at malty@earthlink.net.
