Due to the COVID-19 virus, the 2020 Mayfaire Competition has been postponed until now! To deal with the realities of beer judging during a pandemic, we're going virtual with a slightly increased bottle count (3) and a complete throwback set of style guidelines based on the very first recorded style guidelines from 1979!
Competition Format
Just to recap, the format for entering and judging beers in this competition is going to be the same as last year. Rather than judging Singles against Dubbel’s, Tripel’s and Dark Strongs, our competition judges each subcategory as if it were a category of its own. We want each subcategory to have a chance to compete in the best of show round against all other belgian styles so that we can truly crown the Best Belgian Brew of the year!
Strand Brewers Club will be hosting a homebrew competition honoring Jeff Sanders on March 12 starting @ 8:30am.
Judging will be at: 1321 Sartori Ave, Torrance, CA 90501.
Steward, judge, contest registration & prepay ($8 per entry) opens on January 31st. South Bay Brewing Supply will receive entries from February 13th until noon February 27th. Mail/deliver (3) 12oz bottles per entry to: 1311 Post ave, Torrance, CA 90501
We will be meeting at 7PM at MacLeod's Ales in Van Nuys. Help the club plan our competitions and maintain our high standards of running great contests. The club will buy our beer and dinner. RSVP with Ed or John at vicepresident@maltosefalcons.com if you can make it.
Get your entries to the shop by COB Monday, October 6 and the Maltose Falcons will ship them to San Francisco for you *free* as part of your perks for being a member of the greatest homebrew club in America!
