Thanks So Much for All the Toys Falcons

Falcons,
I just wanted to send a note out to thank you again for ALL the wonderful gifts you brought to the meeting today for our 9th Annual Toy Drive. I am overwhelmed each time by your generosity in bringing so much for the kids. Such a great selection of gifts for youth of all ages. I am humbled and so proud of our club. What wonderful hearts you all have. The Fire Department sends a big thank you to everyone. If you want to give more, you can drop off more gifts at any Fire Department. We will post pics on the Falcon Facebook page of the toy drop off!

SCHF 2016 - Ya Shoulda Been There!

It is now Sunday afternoon. Home again after a wonderful weekend spent at the SCHF, enjoying beer at not only the Fest, but also John K's event and of course, the mighty Dead Palate's Soiree.
But best of all was being surrounded by fellow Falcons. Whether serving beer at all our taps (38 at one point), or going from club to club to try their wares, or dancing to the Mighty Maltose Falcons Brews band,  our members rock.

Thanks for Your Support of Our Toy Drive

TOY DRIVE THIS SUNDAY-DECEMBER 7TH MEETING

Now that we are past the Thanksgiving Fest, it is time to think of the holidays.  As was mentioned in the December club meeting event online, I cannot stress enough how important it is to provide toys for our toy drives. Many of us are so very fortunate in our lives.  Unfortunately, there are those who are not.  I know that bringing a toy or two seems like no big deal to us, but it will be a very happy experience for a child who might otherwise not have a good holiday.

I've Got Your Copper Serpent (Honey Ale That Is......) by the Alewench

The day was made for brewing.  Nice and overcast morning. HLT ready for utilization.  What could possibly go wrong.... Just a little bit......

Our fine brew crew all arrived on time, smiles on their faces, ready to brew the Copper Serpent ESB that Steve and I had come up with a few years ago.  I had gone to Trader Joes and found a big sale on their mesquite honey.  We were planning on brewing and I suggested that we do a brew with honey involved.  Steve came up with the recipe and “Copper Serpent Mesquite Honey Ale” was born.

September Elections Will Be Here Soon!!! It is Your Turn to Be on the Board! THIS SUNDAY IS THE DAY!!!! RUN RUN RUN!

Hey Falcons, old and new, having served on the board, I can tell you that it is a good experience. Now it is your turn to shine!!

Thank You Falcons!!! Toy Drive a Huge Success!

Falcons,

I just wanted to send a note out to thank you again for ALL the wonderful gifts you brought to the meeting yesterday for our 5th Annual Toy Drive.  I was overwhelmed by your generosity in bringing so much for the kids.

The Fire Department was amazed to see how heavy the bags were that we dropped off and they wanted me to thank you from them as well.

Have a very Happy Holiday and only the Best for the New Year.

Take care,

Irene (aka The Alewench)

Maltose Falcons 7th Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive - December Meeting

Yes, I am putting this up early so you can all get the jump on getting those toys ready to bring this year! This will be our 8th Annual Toy Drive to benefit those less fortunate than us. Last year we got a great amount of toys. Let's top it this year. Please bring a new unwrapped toy to benefit underprivileged children. After the meeting, we will take these to the Los Angeles Fire Department for distribution to the kids during the holidays. We will be collecting the toys at the meeting, but please feel free to bring them sooner and drop them off at the shop.

THE TIME IS ALMOST UPON US! SUBMIT YOUR ANCHOR STUFF NOW!

It is time to get your Anchor blurbs in. Why you ask? Because it is time for the Falcons to take back the Anchor Homebrew Club of the Year Award. What comps have you entered? What comps have you won in? What events did you volunteer at? Judge at? Steward at? What creative positive things can you contribute to the Board so they can put together that winning report!! Those of you who have contributed, thanks!!! Those who haven't... C'mon. Send in those shop brew, bus trip, festival photos!! I know you all have them.....Yet I haven't seen anyone post anything new.

Mayfaire Fest-- You Shoulda Been There.......

It is now Sunday afternoon. Home again after a wonderful weekend spent at the Acton KOA enjoying beer, outstanding dinner (yay Peter!) and great snacks brought by everyone.
But best of all was being surrounded by fellow Falcons. Though we were a smaller group than I was expecting, everyone was in great spirits....

MAYFAIRE COMP A ROUSING SUCCESS-- THANKS TO YOU!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came to today's Mayfaire Competition. To all of you judges who are probably home nursing their writing hands from the MANY entries that you had to judge today and to Peter who made a fabulous meal for everyone. But especially to my rockin' stewards. I was amazed by how many of you turned up to help out for the long day. Not only did you do all the running and checking scores, with Dave filing the completed score sheets (thanks Dave). You stewards also helped clean up things as well and....

Another Winning Time at the DKM!

I will leave the specifics to the President and VPs to tell everyone about today's DKM, but I would just like to say a giant thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to come and participate in our event.  We had 40 or so judges and 15 stewards who did a fantastic job.  I want to say a special  thanks to Steve Scott for taking care of the keg and growler pours for the entire time.

Thank You Falcons!!! Toy Drive a Huge Success!

Dearest Falcons!
I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to bring a toy to our 4th Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive. We collected  3 giant Hefty bags full of toys for the children. We delivered them to the Fire Department on Fallbrook. They were truly astounded to see how many toys we were unloading from the car. They asked us to thank all of you for your generosity.

Get Those Anchor Accomplishments Ready!! The Time is Here to Reply!

As Drew told everyone at the last meeting, it is time to get your Anchor blurbs in, cause it is time for the Falcons to take back the Anchor  Homebrew Club of the Year Award.  What comps have you entered? What comps have you won in? What events did you volunteer at? Judge at? Steward at?  What creative positive thing can you contribute to the Board so they can put together a report?

A FINE TIME INDEED ~ MAYFAIRE 2012 by the Alewench

Just when I think that a Falcon Fest that I have attended could not be topped.... BOOM! Mayfaire 2012 arrives and I realize that each event just gets better and better.  And no, it is not the fine homebrew talking, as I have had time to come down from that, do all the wonderful “back home, must do laundry, must clean camp kit” and decided that I needed to write this down immediately.

Doug King Comp A Rousing Success--Yet I Didn't Win!!! by the Alewench

We had a fine Doug King Competition yesterday. You shoulda been there if ya weren't!! Over 40 judges and many stewards (including my good friend Gina) converged on the Eagle Rock Brewery bright and early on the morning of the 21st. With over 100 entries to judge, we knew we were in for a long but very fulfilling and filling day! The day started off with some nice pumpkin bread baked by yours truly and a great burrito casserole, complete with salsa and guac, prepared by Rocky (the kegmaster and go-to guy for the day).

TOY DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS!!!

Each year when I attend Mayfaire, I think that this year's fest could not possibly top last years. But it always does. My time was perfect. Had everyone I love there. My boyfriend and my two best friends in the universe, Helen and Gina, accompanied by Gina's musician husband, Carl. Steve and I arrived on Friday, set up camp and had a great dinner with Richard, Susan, Kent and Martin. Beanie got his satanic fire machine going and the evening was warm and the beer was fabulous.
