Mead Class and Brew

On Saturday, June 10 Roger Taylor and John Aitchison will be leading a Mead Class, Tasting, and Brew.  It will be held at Tavern Services Warehouse at 18217 Parthenia in Northridge.  Mead makers will get to taste a bunch of meads, learn more on how it's made and take home a gallon in a glass bottle which is provided.  We're making a cherry ciser with King Orchard's Montmerency Cherry Juice.  Honey and juice are expensive, the whole thing costs $50.  You can get additional mead for $20 a gallon as well.  Downright cheap compared to the cost of buying mead.

Brew with a Falcon 2017

Our annual "Brew with a Falcon" day is set for Saturday, March 25th! Here's the skinny: a few members of the club will be opening up their homes to other folks to brew together. Most of these sites will be unlike a shop brew - there will be no wort for members to take home. Instead, brewers will signup and on Saturday, March 25th you'll go to your chosen location and hang out, learn and help out.

February Club Shop Brew Session - BIPA With Matt

Join Board Publicity Director Matt Myerhoff in a Belgian IPA on Sunday, February 26 at the Home Beer Wine and Cheese Making Shop. Here are the top-rated examples. Belgian IPA, (Category 21B, Specialty IPA) is a pretty new style, emerging in the mid 2000s. Homebrewers and microbreweries simply substituted Belgian yeast in their American IPA recipes. Belgian breweries added more hops to their tripel and pale ale recipes, so there are all different styles among the great ones, including Brewery Vivant Triomphe, Houblon Chouffe, Epic Brainless IPA, Green Flash Le Freak, Stone Cali-Belgique, and Flying Dog's Raging Bitch. This one will have some of the rich, creamy mouthfeel and strong complex yeast aromas of a Belgian blonde, with a wild bouquet of hops.

Falconsclaws Simplified

This is the 2016 edition of the infamous Falconsclaws recipe. The older recipes from 1999-2001 needed additional ingredients like sugars and extracts because we didn't have enough system capacity to try and hit that magically ridiculous 1.140 gravity. Seriously, it's nuts. But thanks to the club's awesome 50 gallon system, we could actually mash enough grain to make this thing happen! (Hat Tip to Kevin Baranowski for the original series of beers)D
